Surprised you, didn't I? And here you probably all thought I was dead...or something. Anyways, this is just an update (again) on the location of my new and improved blog (which is so much cooler than this one) so you all know where to find me (hint, hint) so I don't feel like I'm talking to myself when I blog. The new blog is conveniently located at codylogan.net. Remember that now.

Wednesday, November 22, 2006

Due to an interesting turn of events, I am now the proud owner of my own domain name and webhosting. Now, I've been meaning to do this for a while, but I wasn't actually prepared to buy anything when I clicked the button on a certain webhost and bought a webhosting package. I just wanted to know how much it would cost! Oh well.

So, due to this development, I have decided to finally leave my Xanga blog and set off for new and better horizons. Now, I will still stick around to read everyone's blogs and comment and such, but I will be doing my own blog posting here. This link may change sometime soon. If and when it does, I'll be sure to notify everyone. Now, the website I recently purchased is codylogan.net, from which I will try to make web templates and such to either sell or give away. Maybe. I need to actually get off my butt (or rather, onto it...) and make some templates.

Well, it was fun Xanga. Too bad I never actually paid for it, eh?

Monday, November 13, 2006

Continuing on the vein of my last blog post, I did actually go and create a cooler blog, which you can see here. There's not much to it, yet (I just added a bunch of old Xanga posts), but you can register so you can read and comment on stuff. Go ahead and look around and tell me what you like or don't like. I'm trying to figure out if there's some way I can get it to send out email subscriptions like Xanga does, so I can still stay in touch with people who don't want to have to go to the site every day just to see if I posted anything new. More on that if I find anything.

EDIT: Aha! I did find a subscribe plugin for WordPress. So, if you go to my site and either register or click "Subscribe," you can sign up for email notifications of my posts. Just like Xanga, only without those pesky little ads up top.

To WordPress...or not to WordPress?

Yet again, I'm torn between the Xanga community and the ultimate coolness that is WordPress. If I host my own blog, I don't have to deal with ads and I can do so much more with the blog, like include static pages and other cool stuff. But Xanga has all my homies on it. Okay, not really, but leaving Xanga means leaving the community that makes up Xanga. I just don't know what to do...

I admit, this isn't that big of a problem. There are others out there having real problems (with relationships, life, evil donkeys stalking them, etc.), so why am I whining about what seems like a no-brainer? I mean, no ads. Who can argue with that?

Meh, I don't know. I don't even know why I bothered to write about this. Will anyone read my blog if I leave Xanga? I'd feel kind of silly if I was writing and no one even noticed.

Elections night

Ah, elections night. That blissful peace that happens only after everyone has cast their votes and the political ads stop for a couple of years. It's a bit anti-climatic, though, considering I voted through absentee ballot a couple weeks ago.

The big race here in Washington was our US Senator race, mainly between incumbent Maria Cantwell (D) and Mike McGavick (R). I voted for neither, since I'm fed up with Republicans and disenchanted with Democrats. I voted for Bruce Guthrie, the Libertarian candidate. While Bruce only got a little over 1% of the vote, I at least feel that my vote wasn't wasted. I bet if more people realized there were more options than just Republicans or Democrats, he would have gotten more votes. I think more people have libertarian-leaning political ideas than they let on. But we've let this country turn into a two-party system, so too many people just vote along party lines. I voted on my principles. Like people should.

Anyways, it also looks as if Washington voters upheld the estate tax, which means people will still get state help paying for higher education. They voted down a property rights initiative and voted for cleaner energy, so basically everything went how I thought it would. The clean energy initiative was close, though. Washingtonians are big on being environmentally-friendly, but they can be a bit stingy with taxes at times. Isn't everyone...

But the big thing that cheered me up tonight is the fact that both the Senate and the House of Representatives have moved farther towards the left. The Senate, as of right now, is split almost equally between Democrats and Republicans, with two Independents right in the middle. And the House is very much dominated by Democrats. I may not like either party, but I prefer the Democrats to the Republicans if I must choose. In my opinion, the Republicans had their turn. They botched things and now it's time for someone else to try. Will the Democrats do any better? I don't know. But I'm fairly sure the terrorists aren't going to win. Take that, Bush.

So, now it's late and I'm hyped up on Red Bull because of an essay I had to finish. Will I ever get to sleep? Will I be completely wiped out tomorrow? Will Saddam actually get hanged? These are questions that may never get answered...at least not tonight. Ha! Had you going there, didn't I? ...no, that doesn't make much sense. I blame the calcium-pantothenate in my Red Bull...

Friday, November 03, 2006

Call me a Trekkie, but I won't care. I just found out about a Star Trek production that recently wrapped up filming called "Star Trek: Of Men and Gods." Apparently, this movie will be shown in three 30-minute episodes only online and stars quite a number of former Star Trek actors including Walter Koenig and Nichelle Nichols, formerly of the original series, along with actors from Enterprise, Voyager, and Deep Space 9. It's scheduled for a Christmas 2006 release, and I'm amazed I haven't heard anything about it before now. Talk about a good Christmas present...

Anyways, here's an article from StarTrek.com (a bit dated) and the movie's website for more info. Yes, I'm a dork, I know. I manage to live with it...somehow...

Video time!

Well, since you guys obviously don't care about my eBay auctions (sad...), perhaps you'll perk up with this:

How about them apples?

More eBay

Not much going on in life, so I'll just post two more links to things I'm selling on eBay. Why? Because I can. Oh, snap!

Fax modem
Older video cards

Hey, they're good deals, especially the video cards. Those things probably cost over $150 when they were new. And they still throw some weight around.

Anyways, maybe something exciting will happen this week. Or maybe not. Whatever the case, I get paid Wednesday. Sweetness!

eBay Action!

I've done it. I've finally succumbed to the eBay craze. Okay, it's a few years late to still be a craze, but oh well. I got an email the other day for some promotion that says that first-time sellers can put up their first three listings for free. Normally, you get charged a fee for putting up a listing, but this one time I don't. So, you may ask, what am I selling?

Why, my old Game Boy! Yes, that's right, a perfectly serviceable red Game Boy pocket complete with power adaptor, link cable, light, and not one, not two, but eleven games! All starting at the low, low price of $14.99, plus shipping and handling.

Yeah, it's a shameless plug, but if you read it like one of those crazy infomercial guys, it's a lot funnier. Anyways, here's the link if any of you are interested. Figured I might as well promote it.

Happy Anniversary!

Today marks the day that I went to the Homecoming dance with Lindsay, exactly one year ago. Well not exactly, considering that the dance was in the evening and I'm currently writing this post in the wee hours of the morning, but you get the point.

I never expected I'd date one person for this long, but I must say that I don't mind it one bit. We've been through a lot together, and I have to say that Lindsay's made me a better person for it. Here's hoping we have a great many more anniversaries together.

I love you Lindsay!
